About the Island…
Folly Beach has always been part of coastal South Carolina’s history and charm. Nestled between the Folly River and the Atlantic Ocean, we are just 10 minutes from historic Charleston, locals refer to it as “the Edge of America”. When you wake up in the morning you’ll enjoy the sunrise on the beach and finish your day watching the sunset on the Folly River. On the eastern tip of the island you’ll find an outstanding view of the Morris Island Lighthouse. For the sportsman, you can fish from the Edwin S Taylor pier which extends over 1,000 feet into the Atlantic.
You’ll also find some of the finest food on the coast here on Folly Beach, whether you’re looking for a gourmet meal, a seafood feast or just a sandwich. You will also find a variety of shops including clothing, sportswear, surfing and fishing gear, as well as local art and gifts.
No matter what your interests are, fishing, kayaking, surfing or relaxing on the beach, you can find it here all year long. There is simply no place like Folly Beach …the “Edge of America”.
