Looking for an inexpensive way to enjoy a summer day on Folly Beach?  Don’t forget to check out the Edwin S. Taylor Folly Beach Fishing Pier.  Whether you are an experienced angler or just getting started in the sport, the Folly Beach pier will never cease to entertain you and your family for hours on end.

Depending on your catch and fish cleaning skills, you might just end up with free supper!  At the pier gift shop, you can rent a rod for $10 a day (plus a $25 deposit), and daily adult fishing permits go for just $8, or $5 if you’re a Charleston County resident. They’ll also sell you frozen shrimp, squid, mullet chunks, or finger mullet for $4.60 a container, or you can pick up some live bait at a local tackle shop. Bonus: The pier is the only place where you can still drink alcohol on the beach, provided you buy it from Locklear’s Beach City Grill, which is located on the pier.

  1. This is such a good idea for a beach activity! I’ve been to Folly beach a lot of times, but I believe I haven’t tried this. Well, I mostly went around showing people homes for sale around Folly beach. This looks like a lot of fun for a nice afternoon adventure. I think I will try this out one day, while I’m visiting there. I could get some of my friends to join me too.
