Charleston Riverdogs to lose Yankees affiliation next season, says Baseball America report | WCIV

Beginning on May 4, the Charleston RiverDogs will be hosting a series at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park for the first time since September 1, 2019. When the sun rises on the morning of opening night it will have been 611 days since the last gameday in the Holy City….but who is counting? In order to properly celebrate the return of pro baseball to Charleston, the RiverDogs have planned a six-day extravaganza that embraces both old and the new. There will be staples of the past such as fireworks and Thirsty Thursday as well as a hearty Lowcountry welcome to our new parent club, the Tampa Bay Rays

Charleston Music Hall’s Outdoor Concert Series, April 10- June 25,2021

We are thrilled to announce Around The Bend – A Socially Distanced Outdoor Concert Series is back at The Bend located in North Charleston on the Ashley River!

This series allows for safe social distancing by providing sectioned off squares and limiting each square to a maximum of 4 people from the same party.

New this season – beer, wine, & water will be for sale on site and available to pre-order! Pre-order online and have a fully stocked cooler bag waiting for you in your square upon arrival. Orders can also be placed conveniently on-site via your phone using the QR code menus located on your square’s sign. There will be no walk-up bar or bar line, all drinks will be delivered directly to your squares by our servers to promote social distancing, and so you can sit back and enjoy the show! The bar menu will be emailed to ticket holders a week prior to your event. If you do not receive, please reach out to us at [email protected]. You may still bring your own non-alcoholic drinks, food, coolers, blankets, chairs, & tables. Coolers will be checked by security upon arrival. An option to rent furniture will be emailed to ticket buyers, made possible by OOH Events. Furniture rentals range from $100 – $300.

The Bend, located at 3775 Azalea Dr. in North Charleston, features 20 acres of beautiful green space on the Ashley River. For all events, gates open at 6PM and shows start at 7:30PM. Concert goers sharing a square are required to arrive together and can take advantage of one FREE on-site parking spot. Patrons are encouraged to arrive early to create an easier and safer ingress and seating.

Tickets will be sold in quantities of four, and parties sharing a square are required to arrive together

Athletes swimming, biking and running in the Charleston Sprint TriathlonThe Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series at James Island County Park features a 600-yard freshwater swim, 12-mile bike ride, and 5K flat run. Over 30,000 people have raced the series over the years, and the series has been honored as one of the Top Ten Charleston Signature Sport Events by the Charleston Metro Sports Council.

Rates will increase on March 1, 2021. Pre-registration ends by phone at 5:30 p.m. and online at 11:59 p.m. Thursday prior to each race. On-site registration available Saturday 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.. Race day registration available from 6 a.m. – 7 a.m. at an increased fee.

Participants must be comfortable swimming 600M in open water and riding a bicycle on roads open to traffic. Parent/guardian must agree to waiver for participants 17 and under.

Our highly acclaimed Festival of Houses and Gardens looks a bit different this year. However, we’re delighted to offer this annual celebration of Charleston’s history, culture, gardens and architecture with extended programming throughout the summer!

The 2021 Festival has been re-imagined to accommodate COVID measures with smaller audience sizes, virtual programming, more outdoor programming and social distancing protocols in place. All tours this year will feature private gardens and exteriors only.

Our programing will begin virtually on March 11th, with in-depth looks at Charleston-related topics ranging from Gullah Cuisine to popular local legends and lore with our Food For Thought Luncheon Lectures. These popular thought-provoking lectures featuring acclaimed local experts will resume in-person beginning April 5th.

Join us on Fridays, April 30th – May 21st for our popular Glorious Gardens Tours featuring exclusive access to private gardens in the Historic District. And make sure to begin your day with a Morning History Walk with some of Charleston’s most knowledgeable licensed guides.
