The Folly Beach Wahine Classic (FBWC) is returning for its 23rd annual all-female surf competition on Saturday, July 26, and Sunday, July 27, at the Washout on Folly Beach, South Carolina. The FBWC is a non-profit organization that aims to empower women of all ages and abilities through a fun weekend of friendly surfing competition and camaraderie. This competition helps to support ocean-based non-profits like the Charleston Surfer Foundation, Warrior Surf Foundation, Surfers Healing, Waves 4 Women, and the Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network.

This competition has been hosted annually for over two decades and hosts “Wahines,” or women surfers. Around 250 Wahines of all ages and abilities compete each year at the nationally recognized all-female surf contest. The FBWC is one of the longest-running surf contests on the East Coast and South Carolina’s only all-female surf contest! Every year, locals and visitors alike have shown love and support for the event aimed at women’s empowerment.

If you are coming to compete from far away, visiting to support a friend or family member, or even if you are a local coming to show support, consider staying at the Water’s Edge Inn. Located on Folly Beach, we are within walking distance of the competition, so you will surely see your Wahine showcase their wave-riding abilities.
